ECOvision 2019 Project starts at the Youth Environmental Center


On April 9, the Russian-German youth project “ECOvision” was launched at the Information and Training Center in 56 Shpalernaya st. within the framework of the German Week in St. Petersburg. Under the project which will last from April to December, school students from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region will shoot videos dedicated to current environmental issues.

ECOvision is organized for the ninth year in a row. This year, the motto is “Solutions that inspire us!”, and the main theme is “Conservation and restoration of biological diversity”. The project ideas are: environmentally sustainable future, and the understanding of changes in the approaches to the satisfaction of needs, and improvement of the quality of life.

At the official opening ceremony, the foreign partners: Bjorn Kiekhaefer, Officer of the General Consulate of Germany, Jürgen Forkel-Schubert, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment and Energy, German representative for UNESCO Education for Sustainable Development Programme, and Natalya Berezhkova, the Senate Chancellery of Hamburg, addressed their welcome words to the participants. Dmitriy Troshenko, Deputy Director for contacts with relevant enterprises and organizations, Vodokanal’s Information and Training Center, wished good luck to all participants and informed them about the competition nominations.

After the official ceremony, the specialists of the Youth Environmental Center conducted an interactive activity on different themes.
